Crafted with a daring mashbill of 64% Corn, 24% Rye, and 12% Malted Barley, and finished with rare toasted Mizunara oak, this release redefines what bourbon can be.
Why Mizunara? Mizunara oak is no ordinary wood—it’s a legend, whispered about in the hallowed halls of Japanese whisky lore. With its elusive and temperamental nature, Mizunara demands patience, precision, and reverence. But the reward? Notes of sandalwood, exotic spices, and a mysterious incense-like depth that we’ve harnessed to elevate our bourbon into the realm of the extraordinary.

French Oak Stave Finished, Small Batch Bourbon

When we began our wood experiments, one forest stood out from the rest. Jupilles became a French royal forest in the 14th century and then a national forest in 1791. This small but ancient forest is known for its tight-grain oak. Fine wine makers in France and around the world have been curating Jupilles oak for centuries. Our master alchemists worked to create a custom toast profile to match our high-rye bourbon profile. The combination is exquisite, approachable and drinkable.
We take high rye bourbon that is at least 6 years old and add custom toasted French Oak Staves for the last few months of aging to impart natural wood flavors of soft, sweet warm notes that play off of the underlying spice of the base bourbon. The layers of complexity on the nose are sure to arouse your palate and please a crowd of bourbon enthusiasts.

Sometimes magic and a bit of luck collide. At our first barrel tasting and buying trip in Indiana, Dark Arts was offered a new, unique recipe that no one had yet brought to market. It derives its name from the 51% Corn / 49% rye combination. The rye is broken into two parts - a portion your traditional rye and a portion malted rye. Once we tasted this liquid gold, we knew the alchemy was complete in the recipe. We are excited to introduce it to the world. Enjoy! Cheers!

Amburana Oak Stave Finished, Small Batch Rye

Amburana Oak aka “Brazilian Oak” has been used in Brazil for many decades to age Cachaça. It has only recently made its way into the US whiskey market. When we began our wood experiments, we wanted to enhance our rye whiskey with the natural wood flavors Amburana Oak imparts. Our master alchemists worked to create a custom toast profile to match our Rye whiskey profile. The combination is powerful and warming but not overdone.
We take rye whiskey that is at least 6 years old and add custom toasted Amburana Oak Staves for the last few weeks of aging to impart natural wood flavors of gingerbread, spice and warm notes that play off of the underlying spice of the base Rye whiskey. The layers of complexity on the nose are sure to arouse your palate and please a crowd of bourbon enthusiasts.
